The non-fiction topic in this book is suicide. Suicides occur everyday and most people do not see it coming. We need to become more aware of the signs of suicide. People who are thinking about committing suicide reach out to the people around them its just a matter of noticing these signs and getting help. Suicides can be prevented by looking out for others, looking out for the signs, and treating everyone the same way you would like to be treated. Suicides can be prevented by taking precautions and looking out for those around us along with those who may be lonely.
1. Timeline:
  1. Clay is at Monet's.
  2. He talks to a girl who he had workshop with.
  3. Clay continues to listen to the tapes. Hannah is not talking about Tyler Down.
  4. Tyler is in yearbook. He watches and takes pictures of Hannah in her bedroom.
  5. Hannah and a girl from her class put on a show for Tyler in the act of catching him in the moment.
  6. Clay looks at the scribble books and finds the initals of Jessica Davis, Alex Standall, and Hannah Baker with a picture of them.
  7. Courtney Crimsen is introduced.
  8. Hannah describes Courtney as being fake and using people to get everyone to like her.
  9. Clay is on a bus. Courtney and Hannah go to the party because Courtney needs a ride.
  10. Clay talks to Skye Miller on bus. Gets off the bus at Tylers house. Marcus shows up and Clay leaves before he punches him.
  11. Courtney spreads rumors about Hannah. They are at the party together. Hannah has Tyler take a picture of her and Courtney.
  12. Chapter ends with Hannah giving Tyler a ride home.

2. Character Relationships:
  1. Hannah and Courtney. Was good, turned bad.
  2. Hannah and Tyler. Tyler spyed on Hannah until she caught him. Not a good relationship.
  3. Hannah and Justin. Had a good relationship. Justin spread rumors about Hannah that were not true.
  4. Hannah and Alex. She was on the hot or not list. On the hot side. Relationship turned bad.
  5. Hannah and Jessica. Used to go to Monet's together. She was also on the hot or not list. Had a relationship with Alex. Relationship died out.

3. I have been surprised by some of the ways people have treated her. She seems like such a nice person and many people take her foregranted. Now that everyone who has impacted her to turning to suicide is listening to the tapes they may change and not treat others like they treated Hannah.

4. I think the book has not been very predictable. We know that every tape brings a new person into the mix. We never know how they will impact her. She seems like a very simple person when if you did something that affected her a little bit you will be mentioned in the book.

5. I am enjoying this book. I like the suspense in the book. The way she talks is very easy to read and understand. I love how the book reads.

What the world is like: The world in this book is a very dramatic but real at the same time. Everything is over analyzed
with deep feelings but at the same time its not a far fetched idea. These events do occur in normal high schools and teenagers do have these same feelings. It is a very relatable world the author has created.
Author's main point: The author is trying to create a story thats relatable. One that will influence kids that are contemplating suiucide. The main point to this story is that everyone's actions influence someone else, whether it be good or bad. Everyone has these feelings and
can work through them but the decision to committ suicide is a big one that is heavily influenced by our peers. Hopefully some people will understand
better why kids make this decisoin everyday.
