3.) What surprised me is when Katniss got a score of 11 on her training/ skill and when Peeta admitted to liking Katniss.

4.) The training aspect has been predictable and Katniss being described as an "underdog" at first.

5.) Yes, I am enjoying the book so far. It is a really quick read and it is a hard book to put down.

1.) The book so far is very good. First, the reaping, then to the capitol to prepare for the games, then to the games. From nothing in their district to food, a warm bed and more in the capitol. Then in the interviews Peeta admits to being in love with Katniss. Now right before the games, Peeta and Katniss team up and try to defeat the careers until Peeta is found teaming up with the careers. Katniss is extremely confused and worried as to why Peeta is with them. So she is on the run from the careers and her own friend. Her days consist of trying to find food, finding cover, and simply trying to stay alive. Along the way, she meets an ally, Rue. Rue gives her the hint to release the swarm of tracker jackers on the careers and Glimmer ends up dead, a few other careers injured. Now that Rue and Katniss have gained eachothers trust they are working together to try and defeat the other players. Then they realize that the careers have a stash of useful items at the cornucopia. Katniss decides that the best thing to do is blow them up so then the careers would have nothing to eat. As Katniss moves on from the explosion, she is worried about Rue. She waits for their signals but nothing comes. She then discovers that Rue is trapped and a career has shot her as Katniss reaches her. Though she has to move on, Katniss keeps Rue in her mind. By the end of chapter 18, Katniss comes to realize that there can be two victors if they are from the same district and now Katniss is on the path to find Peeta.

2.) The Hunger Games takes place in district 12 of Panem in a post-apocalyptic futuristic society. Panem is located in what is left of north America. The story takes place during the reaping where two kids are chosen form each district to compete in the hunger games.

3.) The main point of the author is that there is always struggle, and you have to fight in life. The government has much control on your life and rebelling could cause an epidemic. The book takes you on a journey through pain, struggle, loss, and victory. I think the author wants readers to realize that as life gets hard, you always have to keep fighing, you should never give up and that victory comes to the people who believe in it the most and the people who have the most at risk. The people who come out on top and fight hard are the people who have nothing (food, clothes, comfortable life) and have everything to lose. (Prim)
